Magic Jester Theater  was born in 2008 as an improv, stand-up comedy and musical variety show at the Hazmat, a punk rock commune in the warehouse district in Oakland's Jack London Square. The theater lived for a year at the Humanist Hall in Uptown Oakland before finding its current home in the Temescal neighborhood, a hip yet mellow arts and dining mecca.

Magic Jester Theater now produces monthly shows at the Temescal Arts Center, featuring Magic Jester's three house improv troupes and the improv slam, where dueling duos compete and the audience gets to be the judge.

Magic Jester's improv troupes perform around the Bay Area at such places as: Endgames in San Francisco, Moment's Notice in Berkeley, and Under the Sun Studios in Concord, and have opened for KT Comedy, Futurestyle 79 and the People's Republic of Improv.
